I recently traveled to Shanghai and decided to make a one day trip to Beijing to do some exploring and visit the major landmarks like the Great Wall of China, Forbidden City & Temple of Heaven. I was looking for a great, reasonable & simple hotel to stay and of course the location had to be convenient and close to the Beijing train station since I had a late arrival from Shanghai into Beijing. It took 6 hours from Shanghai to Beijing by train and I regret not flying, but I wanted to experience another sort of transportation and decided to take the train from HongQuiao station. I went ahead and booked the Four Points by Sheraton Beijing and I was very happy with my choice plus the price for one night was only $91 dollars, being an SPG member always helps and I was very pleased with my room on floor #9 which is the SPG floor.

- The customer service and check in process went smooth and the service was top notch. I was not near the check in counter upon my arrival and the staff were already greeting me and making me feel right at home, they could barely speak any english but at least the little they were saying I understood. Finally at the counter and they asked me for a few things: Reservation number, passport and my credit card. It only took about 10 minutes for the check in process was done. I requested a few things from the staff and they were able to meet my request. They bought my train ticket back to Shanghai for the next day at 4:00pm and they reserved my private car for my sight seeing tours. The train ticket back to Shanghai was 553Yuan with 35Yuan service charge fee, it is totally worth it & they deliver it straight to your room, the same night. The staff was super attentive and caring to help in anyway they can.

My room for the night in Beijing.
The room was perfect to spend a night in Beijing and it had everything needed – a great working desk, a solid shower, comfortable bed and complimentary waters because of SPG elite status. The internet access was decent and very slow – I had to go downstairs to the lobby and use it there and it worked much better, so I would say fixing the internet should be a priority for them. My only concern throughout the night that I experienced in my room in which I had to call the cleaning crew, the toilet started to reek with a very bad odor – not sure what it was but it smelled very very bad!!. However, I called the front desk right away and in matters of 5 minutes the cleaning crew arrived and handled the issue, shortly after the odor was gone and I was ready to sleep. I would say the attention to detail from the hotel staff was great.
Overall it was a pleasant stay at this location and I would stay here again if I was in transit or just exploring Beijing for a maximum of 3 days (max). You can’t beat the price it’s marked at and it exceeded my expectations. Customer service was great, restaurants within the facility were delicious and the amenities of the place were excellent. If you have the pleasure to visit Beijing – consider this one!
Best, John Carter.
