On July 16, 2014 I embarked on my journey to Hong Kong with American Airlines. I was a media guest to test their new service from Dallas International Airport to Hong Kong International Airport. Opinions and thoughts are my own.
Prior to departure from Hong Kong International Airport on route back to Dallas,TX – I went to visit the The Wing – Which is Cathay Pacific First Class lounge. Cathay Pacific is a member of The OneWorld Alliance and being a OneWorld Emerald flying premium cabin I was granted access into the lounge. If you are not an elite but you are flying premium cabin, you will be granted access as well. The lounge can be found right after you clear customs by taking a quick left turn, there will be signs that will direct you to the lounge so the chances of getting lost are very unlikely. This club is one of my favorites to visit and by far one of the Best OneWorld lounges. Today, I will share my thoughts on The Private Cabanas at The Wing.
The Wing – Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge.
Before entering the lounge you will be asked for a few things from the agents:
- Keep your passport in hand at all times and hand it to the agent during check in.
- Make sure you have your boarding pass in hand and you’re flying First Class.
- As a OneWorld Emerald I was granted access into the lounge and because I was flying Premium Cabin.
- If you don’t have a Status but flying First Class with Cathay Pacific you will be granted access.
Once your access has been granted – you can make your way inside the lounge and enjoy all of the incredible amenities it offers, such as the Private Cabana Rooms.
The check in for the Cabana Room is just right after you enter the lounge to the left hand side of the lounge. There will be an agent greeting you and the agent who helped me was friendly, attentive and caring. Luckily there was no wait for a Cabana and I was on my way in matters of minutes. Keep in mind this is a first come first serve so during peak hours of travels you might not have a chance to experience this amenity but if you are wanting to do so, it never hurts arriving to the airport a few hours before your flight ;). It’s worth it – trust me.
Upon entering the Lounge you will be amazed by the facility and everything it offers. The presentation, how clean and organized everything was and the amenities in it were incredible and the fact that I can use it for as long as I want was even better.
The Lounge Features a Shower and a Bath Tub – the choice is yours. Both equipped with its soap, conditioner and shampoo and of course your towel. Normally, I take a shower before every long haul flight but this time around I skipped the shower due that I didn’t have enough time at the lounge and mostly, I just wanted to relax and get a bit of work done before departure. I am planning to be back in Hong Kong again in the near future, so I am looking forward to trying out the shower but I am sure, it won’t disappoint.
Work Desk in the Cabana:
If you are wanting to get some work done in the Cabana, you will be able to with no problems. It has a simple desk with great lighting where they also provide you with the Wifi password for you to log in. Power outlets can be found so you can plug in your devices incase they need to be juiced up.
Lounge Sofa in the Cabana Room:
One of my favorite things of the Cabana Room was the sofa lounge because thats where I spent most of my time surfing the net and relaxing before departure. The Sofa was extremely comfortable and it can also be considered a bed because it’s pretty big. Within the sofa you will find a round table as well perfect for a few snacks, drinks or even placing your devices before jumping in the bath tub or shower.
Aside from the showers, bath tub, working desk, sofa lounge, the lounge also offers a sink where you can wash your hands, face, etc. Underneath you will find towels and waters and a cup where you can pour your drink. The presentation was perfect and very well organized. Right beside it, you will find your own restroom as well as there is no need to go outside to use the restroom since you will have one in your Private Cabana.
Needless to say, Cathay Pacific is one of my favorite OneWorld Partners to fly not only because of the great lounges they offer to their elite flyers but mainly because of the great customer service I often received when visiting the facility. The staff goes far and beyond to meet my needs and wants during my visit. The Private Cabana Room is one of my favorite amenities in the lounge and being able to use it is a wonderful perk enough to make me miss my flight so I can spend more time at the lounge ;). There is really nothing I have to point out in the Cabana Room that needs to be fixed or improved, overall it always surprises me on how organized and how well presented everything is. If I had to point out something, I wish I could see the tarmac from the Cabana because at times it does get a little claustrophobic in there and Hong Kong International airport always has some beautiful birds taking off and landing.
Have you been to the The Wing Cabana Room? If so, what are your thoughts and what would you like to see different?
