Welcome to the newest blog series on Top Travel Tips feauturing John Carter favorite travel accessories – As a frequent traveler myself I am often asked what are some of my favorite gadgets I use to travel and what are some of my top backpacks and carry ons I use while traveling. Keep in mind, I am an International flyer meaning I prefer long hauls rather than short hauls. Throughout 2014 I have flown well over 110k thousand miles and 95% of them have been International destinations. I am always looking for the new gadget, electronic device and things to bring to my tips to make my journey enjoyable, productive and of course, safe. On this new series I will be reviewing some of my favorite products I bring with me to my trips while also sharing my feedback on what I think it’s best to use it for. Due that I spend so much time in the air, I am one that is constantly looking for the newest backpack and of course, carry on. I am not a luggage guy and I refuse to check a bag even though I can check 3 bags if I wanted to, free of charge. The reason why I prefer to not check a bag is because I would like to have all of my belongings in my possession incase of any delays or flight cancellations.
I am a big fan of Tumi because of their mission and because of the high end quality products they make. If you haven’t seen the following video from Tumi, I would recommend you take a look so you can get to know on who they are and how they make their products.

On Today’s post, I will be sharing with you all one of my favorite products from Tumi that I own and its going to be one of the totes and backpacks I will be using the most known as: Tumi Alpha Bravo Lejeune Backpack Tote.
One of my favorite things about Tumi when I purchase a carry on, a tote or a backpack it’s having the opportunity to personalize my bags with my initials. I don’t know what it is but it fascinates me and it brings memories from where I bought it at. Just like if I was buying a souvenir at a particular destination. You will have the opportunity to select the color you would for the text and the color accents of the bag. Isn’t that amazing? As a frequent flyer my carry on, backpack & tote bag are the most important thing while traveling: Comfort, style and connivence are three of the most important factors I keep in mind.
Tumi Alpha Bravo Lejeune Backpack Tote – Front Side
The look of this tote bag and backpack is simply incredible. Within the outside of the bag you will have a total of 5 compartments to put anything you would like. I also love the Tumi tag because thats where I was able to put my personal information aside from my Frequent Flyer tags (Admirals Club & Executive Platinum Tag). Each compartment features a unique look and plenty of room and what I like best it’s that each compartment it has, I can use it for electronics, cables, umbrella, water bottle, etc. The zippers of the bag are sturdy and durable.
Tumi Alpha Bravo Lejeune Backpack Tote – Back Side (Tote Bag mode).
You might be wondering why do they call it tote bag and backpack at the same time? Well, here is the unique thing about this bag – Rather than just being a backpack you have the ability to hide the backpack straps within its compartment and carry it as a tote bag by the handles on top of the bag. I have worn this bag as a backpack and it is extremely comfortable and I have used it as a tote bag as well and I could use either feature. I find myself using it as a tote most of the time along with my carry on and it’s very convenient, especially before the boarding process begins.
Tumi Alpha Bravo Lejeune Backpack Tote – Backpack Straps
The backpack straps are extremely comfortable and provides great padding. What I also like best about this feature is that I all I gotta do is clip them into the loop of the bottom and I will be set to go. They are also adjustable straps and you can tailor them to your liking and fitting. Each strap has a loop that can be used for various of reasons, I am still trying to figure out the way on how I can maximize those loops and take advantage of those.
Tumi Alpha Bravo Lejeune Backpack Tote – The Inside
The Inside of the bag, the most important compartment of the bag isn’t it? I can’t express how impressed I was with how spacious this bag is on the inside and of course, it is one of the things I look at when purchasing one and this bag met my needs and wants. I am able to fit so much of what I need that it doesn’t even feel “overpacked” or all crunched with the rest of the items I am bringing and carrying. The inside features 5 compartments and one of them is perfect for lap top compartment specially for my macbook air 13 inch, it fits just right and to put it into perspective, I am able to fit two pairs of shoes and still have more room within my bag for more stuff. The zippers are also very durable and the material of the bag is incredible and durable.
I am looking forward to taking this new beautiful backpack from Tumi on its newest adventure to Vienna and Budapest in 20 days and you can expect to see some tips on how this bag has helped me during my trips and how I have maximize what it offers.
