I am 2 Days away from Departure before I make my way back to Europe and looking forward to being back on the road after 3 weeks of being in the ground working in Los Angeles and planning things for next year. This is one of the trips that I have been very excited about because its been on the bucket list for quite some time now. Although it is a mix of Business and Pleasure, I am still looking forward to visiting 3 cities that I have been wanting to travel to and those are: Vienna, Budapest and Prague. Today, my System Wide Upgrade with American Airlines cleared and it has been confirmed, as I mentioned on my previews post – The load on the flight wasn’t completely full and at the time there was over 20 seats open so the chances of my upgrade clearing were very good.
Although the mini cabin was booked up – I still had plenty of great seats available and ended up choosing 10J which is a fantastic seat in Business class on Americans Boeing 777-300ER. I flew 10A during my flight to Hong Kong out of Dallas and loved it. Check out my review of the flight here!
Two things I do prior to my flight when my upgrades clear:
- Change my seat to the seat I want.
- Request my meal for the flight in advanced.
Seat Inventory and Load from Los Angeles to London Heathrow
- 10J my seat selection.
Once my upgraded cleared – The next step was to pre-select my meals for the flight. Keep in mind this is my first time trying American Airlines new on board meals since their recent changes on the catering. I am hoping for the best – Although, the reviews and the feedback hasn’t been too good lately, I have seen some positive feedback on certain meals that they have served – but those flights have been domestic and I haven’t heard much about their International catering, so I am in for a treat. Due that this is a night time flight theres going to be Dinner and Breakfast – I am surprised theres going to be breakfast when we are arriving in London at 2:00ish in the afternoon. Incase you aren’t familiar with how American Airlines meal selection works – here is a brief walkthrough.
I then proceed to the next step after clicking Entree Reservations.
The following dishes are brand new and I have not tried any of them and I have flown International all year. The first option for Tilapia was out of the questions, I won’t be in the mood for fish during night time so I skipped on that option. The second option which was the beef was top on the list for me to try, although I haven’t had much luck with American’s beef dish; however, I did have an amazing beef dish in First Class during my flight from New York to Los Angeles on American’s new A321T, the dish was simply perfection and delicious, but to be safe – I skipped that option. The third option was Chicken and thats normally what I usually eat on my American Airlines flights, which they tend to be very tasty – In fact, I also had a delicious chicken dish on my First Class flight from Los Angeles to Chicago but due that I’ve had plenty of chicken on all my flights – My last option was the Pasta Dish and I could see myself having pasta for dinner for this particular flight especially with a glass of white wine and last but not least, I had a great pasta dish during my Business Class flight from Dallas to Hong Kong and I was very pleased with it. So for my flight from Los Angeles to London, I selected: Pesto Tortellini and Manicotti Duo.
As per usual, before dinner – There is going to be a starter which I am not sure what is going to be and of course after dinner – there is going to be dessert. Normally for dessert American offers their popular on board sundaes in which you can fill up with your favorite toppings. I normally keep mine pretty simple with Hot chocolate and pecans, But I might get creative on this flight and add some more toppings.

For breakfast, I am not sure what are the meal options and thats something I will find out while being on board and the menu is in my possession. If you have been following me for a while, you know American Airlines and OneWorld Partners are my home away from home. I am looking forward to be back on the road and fly with AA on my favorite aircraft, the 777-300ER. Before departure, I will be spending my time at the American Airlines Admirals Club Flagship, so you can expect to see a review on that in the near future. This is not a milage run, as I am well over 100,000 flown miles with AA throughout 2014.
Have you all tried any of the American Airlines meals pointed above? If so, what was your selection and your thoughts on it?
