I recently just got back from San Diego as I was in a conference for the week working. Hyatt properties are some of my favorite aside SPG properties. I’ve heard great things of the Hyatt hotel so I decided to check this one out also because the conference was held at this hotel and it was convenient. Let me begin my saying that my stay could have been much better – I had issues during my stay and the hotel wasn’t able to do much but pay for my hotel, breakfast and the rest of accommodations which I still think – I should get more than that so I will discuss that on a future blog post to have some of you all feedback and thoughts on the matter. I arrived at the hotel bright roughly around 6:30 and I was shortly admitted into my room, no upgrades were available due that the hotel was fully booked and it is fairly big property, aside from my conference – they were two other conferences going on so the hotel was crowded, very crowded.

I checked in on the priority check under Platinum and Diamond and the friendly staff member checked me in pretty fast – Walked me through a few of the hotel amenities, what they offer, restaurants, pool and fitness center and I was shortly on my way to my room to catch an hour of sleep before my conference began.
I was assigned room number 566 located on the 5th floor of the building – Once exiting the elevator I took a quick right turn into the hall and my room was the 3rd one into the hall – Once arriving into my room, I knew it was going to be a chaotic stay due that my neighbors were already yelling, drinking, playing extremely loud music in the room and the smell of illegal substances were overflowing the hallway, I did called front desk right away to report this issue and the security guards were useless as it kept going and on. But again, I will discuss this on a later blog post.

My room was comfortable with a double bed, with a great view of the Marina and San Diego Market Place, though I should mention that the room also had a bad smell, it could have been a mix of the illegal substances on the room next door and humidity as well, not sure what it was but it felt stuffy in there. I was tired and dealing with all these issues was something that I didn’t want to deal at 6:50am when I have a full day of meetings and conference ahead so I took a nap and went on with my day. Aside from that, the room also had two lounge chairs with a round table that has view of the marinas and they were comfortable, the TV station and working desk were also great addition to the room and very spacious.

Within the working desk and underneath the TV you will find your coffee machine maker, ice bucket, waters and an external charging port to charge your devices such as phones, tablets, laptops and much more.
On my pillow, I also found the breakfast menu and room delivery times – something I’ve experienced at other hotels as well like the JW Marriott Hong Kong. I did not use this service at all and decided to just eat breakfast at one of their restaurant that the facility offers. Keep in mind that the hotel also offers a buffet breakfast for $26 and a continental breakfast for $20, I kept it simple on my breakfast and also skipped on that option though, because I was on a tight schedule and a smaller bite to eat was more convenient. But for those interested on receiving their breakfast in their room, this is a great option.
Now moving on to the bathroom – Rather spacious with a great shower pressure and style. There isn’t something to point out in the restroom that needs improvement because it had everything I needed. Within the sink you will find a few simple toiletries such as toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner and soap. Underneath the sink you will also find your hair dyer and more towels as well.
Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego – Bottom line
Although my stay at this hotel was nothing but chaos, me complaining to the front desk more than 3 times, having horrible neighbors – for the time I spent in my room, I enjoyed it. The bed was comfortable, the wifi was working perfectly for me to get my job done and the TV had a great selection of channels. The working desk came in handy as well when I needed more room to work along with the handy charging port provided. My complaint from this hotel that the action they took to handle the situation during my stay was not enough though I appreciate them covering my expenses due to the issue happening but when you stay at a Hyatt of this caliber or should I say, any Hyatt you should always receive a 5 star service in all areas of the hotel.
On my next blog post – I will be get into more details on what exactly happened during my stay so I can get some feedback from you all.
Have you stayed at this property before? If so, how was your experience?
