The year is slowly coming to an end now with Christmas being around the corner. For some, this might be a panicking time of the year when trying to obtain Executive Platinum and for those who achieved the milestone, congratulations to you. I haven’t flown in a month and a half since I arrived home from Vienna and Budapest and I’ve been itching to get back on the road myself. However; the rest from flying has been much needed because I had a very long long year of flying but great memories were collected through the travels. I achieved executive platinum this year again in May so I was smooth sailing on that aspect for the rest of the year with plenty of International destinations ahead of me. Now that the year is coming to a close – I had two choices, either stay home in Los Angeles or spend Christmas and New Years somewhere else, I chose Chicago because the fare was extremely LOW and I love Chicago plus having family there is always helpful and a pleasant time, so after a month off from flying, I will be back on board with American Airlines on December 23rd.
Throughout my time off I was not slacking on my trip planning and focusing on 2015 travels which I am very excited about and looking forward to. Keep in mind, I only fly International and if needed a few Domestic trips are in order but it’s rare that happens. I have booked over 10+ trips and so far 8 of them are with American Airlines along with Cathay Pacific, British Airways and Japan Airlines. I am very picky about my flying and I don’t mind taking the “long way” to obtain the miles I want to achieve on that particular month so I am well on track towards my Executive Platinum again which is always my primary focus. The fares I have bought are a great deal and booking in advanced always helps on finding the best deal possible – so yes, keep that in mind if you are wanting to get away or trying to book an International destination in the year future.
The Logistics & Planning
During the month of January I will be gone from home for a month – As crazy as it sounds, I will be living out of hotels, airports, planes and my beloved Tumi Suitcases. I will be flying home from Chicago in January and shortly after, I will be making my way to Thailand where I will be routing from LAX towards DFW to Hong Kong and finishing in BKK. Shortly after, I will be making my way to New York City to work and attend the New York Times Travel Show where I will be at a panel on Sunday at “Meet the Experts” talking about points, miles and much more so if you happen to be around, please come on by. Shortly after New York – I will be making my way to Los Angeles then back out to Boston but by being back in Los Angeles, its to be at the airport and catch my flight to Boston. Mainly to gain the most milage from every flight I am taking and finally at the end of the month in January, I will be at 33,183 EQM (Elite Qualifying Miles). Not bad for a full month of flying with one International Destination and multiple domestic destinations/stop overs. Shortly after January ends, I begin my trek towards my International destinations such as: Athens, Beijing, Singapore, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and much more. I am looking to hit Executive Platinum again by May of 2015 and reaching the Platinum mark by beginning of February with over 60,000 (EQMs).
I will be flying a mix of aircrafts next year such as 737’s,757, 767, A330, 777-300, 747’s and some A380’s.
