After 8 beautiful days full of adventures in Bangkok, Thailand it was time to head back to America and continue my travels around the World. My final destination on this segment was Dallas Forth Worth Texas, beginning my journey from Thailand to Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific and ending it with American Airlines from Hong Kong to Dallas on their newest recently launched service which is one of my favorites, why? Because its operated by their Boeing 777-300ER featuring lie flats seats in First Class and Business Class. The Elite qualifying miles on the leg from Hong Kong to Dallas and vice versa is a whooping of 8,111. On Todays blog post I will cover with you my segment flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong. I was excited to fly again with Cathay Pacific because it is one of my favorite One World carriers.
Cathay Pacific A330
If you haven’t flown Cathay Pacific Business Class, the lay out of the 330 aircraft cabin goes as follow : 2-2-2 configuration. If you would like more information on the seats for this aircraft. Make sure to follow SeatGuru for more information on the best seats and info on the Economy Class of the A330. Keep in mind they are two versions of this aircraft which one features a two class service (the regional) and the three class A330. I flew the regional two class cabin aircraft.
The Business Class cabin is spacious and the seat is comfortable. This particular jet in Business Class doesn’t provide lie flat completely, it is an angled flat but It still did the trick to relax and get comfortable. They are spacious and when on the seated position you will have plenty of leg room. The controls to manage the seat settings are on the side of the seat where you will find the different options for the seat (recline, foot rest, etc).
During the boarding process
As the boarding process went on which took a bit of time because it seemed to be a pretty full flight, the cabin crew walked around the cabin offering the business class passengers a beverage of their choice. Tea, lemonade, orange juice and water were the drinks being offered and I went ahead with water as I was a bit thirsty. You will also get approached by several other crew members asking you if you want a hot towel and a blanket for the flight. They will open the blanket package for you and hand it to you. I thought it was a nice tough and incredible customer service on their part.
Hot towel are passed around the cabin from the flight crew prior to the boarding process ending.
Once the boarding process ended – The cabin crew prepared the cabin for departure and the inflight manager came by my seat to introduce herself and welcome me on board and made herself available for anything I needed. At the time, the captain went on the PA to also welcome us on board and letting us know our flight of 3 hours and 10 minutes to Hong Kong letting us that its was going to be a rather smooth ride with a few bumps and chops throughout the flight. Shortly after during our push back the security briefing began to play. The taxi into the runway took quite some time due to traffic and having several other aircrafts ahead of us. After 10 minutes of waiting we were clear for take off to start our journey to Hong Kong International airport.

Shortly after our we reached our initial cruising altitude the cabin crew began to walk around the cabin and pass out our menu for breakfast where it features soft drinks, tea, coffee and the breakfast menu for the flight. The captain went on the PA to let us know of our flight time and our estimated time of arrival into Hong Kong. The ride was smooth at the time.
Cathay Pacific – Business Class menu
Cathay Pacific – Food and drinks options
For breakfast I selected the Cheese and herb omelette with grilled chicken sausage, potatoes cubes with onions and roasted tomatoes and for my choice of drink, I ordered apple juice and some water
Shortly after breakfast I decided to catch some sleep with 2 hours and 30 minutes to go until arrival. The ride was fairly choppy and sort of uncomfortable at times but for the most part it was fine. I slept all 2 hours for the remainder of the flight and was woken up by the captain letting us know that we would start our descent into Hong Kong and arriving a little delayed because of our late departure out of Bangkok due to runway traffic. Weather conditions in Hong Kong were lovely and the sun was shining and the views on descent were awesome, as per usual.
Bangkok to Hong Kong – Cathay Pacific bottom line
Flying Cathay Pacific is always an absolute pleasure – I can’t express it enough. The attention to detail by the cabin crew is flawless and their efforts to make the flight enjoyable shows it’s their main priority. The breakfast was nothing special in my opinion, simple breakfast to beat the hunger but it didn’t taste bad. One of the cool things about this segment was being on board a brand new A330. The interior, seats, everything was just flawless and in great condition.
For those flying this particular route in the near future in Business class, you won’t be disappointed – Cathay Pacific does it right and flying them as a OneWorld Emerald its a joy.
