The time to explore Dubai has come – As I mentioned on my previews posting, The Dubai Tourism Board did an excellent job on taking care of my attractions so I was able to maximize my one day trip to Dubai. I was very excited to get to know Dubai and visit some of the attractions that everyone gets to do while visiting. Though I would have liked my visit to be longer so I could have experience more, these three attractions recommended by the Tourism Board were the highlight of my visit. They made sure I got every bit of information in regards of culture, lifestyle, learning about the Arabic Culture, followed by some history and ending the day with an Adrenaline rush. Be sure to visit the Dubai Tourism Board website for more information.
We came to the conclusion of covering three major attractions during my trip in which I will outline below. On Today’s installment I will be sharing my experience of the third and final attraction I got to do that day which was the Platinum Heritage Safari Tour.
- Sheikh Mohammed Centre of Cultural Understanding
- The Burj Khalifa – Tallest building in the World
- Platinum Heritage – Safari Tour
As you can see, I got to do a little of everything during my visit which was perfectly planned with the right amount of time spent at each location without being rushed – My tip of advice is for you not to rush through any of this attractions, they are some of the “must do and visit” attractions so taking your time to maximize your stay and visit it’s vital for you to really live the adventure and soak in the vibe of these fantastic and interesting places.
What better than cruising the Dubai Desert on a vintage Land Rover?

I was picked up at my hotel by my guide that was going to be showing me around the desert – The drive to the desert took about one hour max, the traffic was smooth and the scenery along the road was beautiful. Throughout the drive my guide gave me some information about the tour, the things I will be doing and some background information to keep in mind. For privacy reasons, I will not disclose the location of the desert because this location is strictly for Platinum Heritage where they have their tours, though you should know it is a reserved conservation desert and I hope you are able to experience it very soon. After the one hour ride into the desert, I saw the beautiful vintage land rovers parked up and ready to go on. I was also given a Ghuttra as a gift which is piece of clothing that the locals wear on their heads, you can use the remaining to cover your mouth to avoid the sand hitting your mouth throughout the drive.

Shortly after my friendly tour guide lets me know that we are ready to go. The wind was picking up quite a bit and I was worried that my car ride was going to be cancelled because of safety reasons its not safe to ride. Though, the wind behaved throughout the ride and I was well on my way to experience this beautiful scenery. The temperature in the desert was bearable and not so hot, the city felt hotter ;).
Here is a clip where my tour guide explains about the desert and the wild life we will be seeing as drive around the desert.

Cruising the Dubai desert
The drive throughout the desert was fantastic – The scenery was breathtaking and I was so excited that I was experiencing this. One thing to keep in mind, you are able to request a stop anywhere around the desert where you can take pictures and explore the area for a little while. My tour guide notified me that right when we started so I was able to select my favorite spots within the desert to capture some incredible photos. I was looking for a unique scenery where the dunes where high and you could see some elevation as well. Down below are some of the photos we captured throughout the drive.

The wild life throughout our drive around the desert during feeding time.
Shortly after we finished our 40 minute drive, we headed out to enjoy a Falcon show. Where the gentleman in charge of the falcons shared some great information on how they train their falcons. How the GPS system works when they install that on the falcon and shortly after he does a falcon show for us allowing us to see how the falcon responds to his command. Meanwhile as we were all watching the falcon show we were also open to grab ourselves a refreshing cold sparkling apple drink which totally helped on curing the thirst.
Mini bar in the middle of the Dubai desert with sparkling drinks? Sure why not? 🙂
Cheers to that Platinum Heritage
The falcon show set up was very unique as well and I truly enjoyed it. The set up was comfortable and I was able to experience the sunset throughout that time. You are able to take pictures with the falcon shortly after the show is finished. Here is a view during the falcon show.
After the falcon show was finished – It was dinner time and I was excited to finally eat, I was building quite the appetite during my drive around the desert. The drive towards the camp site where we would be eating at took about 5 minutes and I was thrilled to keep discovering new things during my safari adventure. Throughout the camp site you will find a station with hookahs also known as Shisha. Locals will also be around the grounds to welcome you with arabic coffee, there will also be a local that will give you henna tattoo if desired, she will explain to you about it and create a design for you for privacy reasons, I did not take any photos of that. The coolest part of all was able to see how the locals prepare a special dish in which until this day, they still cook some of their food the way it was performed. Everything felt super authentic and you could definitely feel the vibe of the culture within moments of walking into the camp.
Platinum Heritage Camp
As I mentioned above, right when entering the camp the locals will be greeting you and welcoming you with a cup of arabic coffee – if you want more you are more than welcome to request it. Arabic coffee is amazing and you won’t be disappointed.
The shisha area its located in the middle of the camp, where later in the evening you will be able to enjoy some shisha at your own leisure as you can lay back, relax and watch the desert stars.
Dinner time came around and we were offered a delicious lentil soup. I was afraid that it was going to be spicy but it ended up being just perfect. I truly enjoyed it. Throughout dinner, they started to play some arabic music and we came to find out that there was a performance coming up. This is how the man in the UAE handle their weapons and it’s part of the culture. It was interesting to see and how well they handle the weapons. I found myself saying “Wow, this is my first time” seeing this and getting to experience this. It is fascinating to learn new cultures.

I won’t be spoiling the dinner and everything I had because I would love for you all to experience, but the food was cooked to perfection. It is a lot of food so be prepared to eat. After we all finished dinner we had a few choices, either to go star gazing and learn about the stars, smoke shisha, ride camels or simply just relax at the camp site. Within the camp you will be able to enjoy different sorts of refreshments such as coffee, tea, water, sodas and juices. We concluded our attractions by 10:00pm and I was well on my way back to the City.
Platinum Heritage Safari – overall experience
I am not really sure where to begin – Until this day I am still amazed at the beauty of the desert and everything I was able to do, see and experience. It has been a bucket list item for me to do during my travels and it was finally achieved with the help and accommodation of the Dubai Tourism Board. The Platinum Heritage Team did a fantastic job on maximizing the guest experience and making sure everything is running properly for the guest. Their attention to detail is spot on and you can feel the passion for their jobs and to deliver their best service for everyone. From driving a land rover, to holding a falcon, to drinking arabic coffee, to eating the local food, to smoking shisha, to stargazing and more, I can honestly say this only happens in Dubai. The organization from the staff was flawless, nothing felt rushed and everything was planned correctly allowing you to take your time on really getting to experience everything theres to do.
I will leave you all with one more video….Enjoy 🙂
