During my trip to Abu Dhabi I was invited as a Media Guest to visit Ferrari World Abu Dhabi which is The world’s first Ferrari-branded and largest indoor theme park. Abu Dhabi is rapidly expanding and tourist attractions are also growing. Ferrari World is one of those attractions that is constantly getting visitors from all over the World, because it is one of those attractions that gets promoted within the media quite frequent. What calls peoples attention is the size of the theme park and everything it offers. Being that I was a Media Guest I took my time to explore the park and see everything it offers, will I be returning back to the park? Definitely not – But is it worth visiting at least once? I would say it is, mainly because they are several rides and attractions within the park that were fun to do and they were attractions that I have never done before.
The theme park is that big that if you are on final approach or taking off from Abu Dhabi International Airport you could see it from above and the view is rather incredible.
Ferrari World from above
After quite a drive from my hotel at the time which was the Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi towards Ferrari World, I finally made it into the park. My driver got lost a handful of times so I was in the car for at least one hour and keep in mind they are signs all over when you are approaching the area where the theme park is, so it’s not that complicated to get there. The park is connected within Yass Mall, upon arrival you will see a big sign that says “Welcome to Ferrari World” proceed through those doors and take the elevator up to the second floor.

Once you arrive at the second floor, the stunning Ferrari World theme park entrance can be seen. The installations were mind blowing and everything seemed to be pretty well organized. I arrived early morning at 11:00am which was the perfect timing to arrive to beat the heavy crowds of people. If you happen to read the reviews, a majority of them tend to say the theme park gets very crowded – so my advice is for you all to arrive early and maximize your time there during it’s slow hours. Proceed all the way down the hall and you will find the ticketing counters to purchase your tickets and if you need help from customer service, take a sharp right when finishing the walk towards the tunnel and the guest relations office will be there.

After a quick brief meeting with the public relations team from the theme park – I was given my media badge and started to explore the park. I wasn’t sure where to begin at first, I felt a little overwhelmed because it is a very big theme park. It makes a big difference going first thing in the morning because there was barely anyone at the park and it made the experience much more exclusive and less hectic. The entrance of the park is stunning where you will be able to see the structure of the park along with a gorgeous Ferrari parked in the middle.
I decided to take a left upon entering to the park and immediately you will find an area where they show you how they change the tires and fix the cars during an F1 race. At the time of my visit there was nothing happening but shortly after, they have staff members from the theme park do a show about it where they usually bring a guest from the crowd to experience it. It seemed to be a success because people were laughing, taking photos and videos. The show happens quite frequent so you will be able to catch it anytime during your visit.
F1 Zone and Show area (Tyre Change show)/
As I was walking around the theme park you will notice that there is a lot more to do for little kids than for us adults, which is to be expected. Kids demand more than us adults so in my assumption this theme park is ideal for the kids than for us adults. After passing through the F1 zone and show area, I ran into a “jungle park” also known as an obstacle course, where kids have the freedom to do anything they want while being controlled by the staff on duty. They have a rock climbing wall, slides and many more fun activities they can do. At first, I thought it was open to everyone and I was keen to try it but when I got up close to it, everything was for the younger generation.

Near the kids obstacle course you will the world’s fastest rollercoaster known as Formula Rossa, with a top speed of 250kmph in in 4.9 seconds. Being that I was a Media guest my wait time was practically nothing as I was able to access the fast track pass, but to put things into perspective even if you didn’t have a fast track pass, the line to ride the rollercoaster was very short which brings me to the topic of arriving early and enjoying the park as much as you can without the hassle and bustle of heavy crowds. The rollercoaster was the highlight of the day, I requested to be seated on the front of the rollercoaster so I could have a birds eye view of everything and it was a thrill. Between the heat in Abu Dhabi and how fast we were going, I felt like I was flying to moon. Prior to riding the rollercoaster they require you to remove all loose items from your pockets and keep all valuable items away. They have a stand where staff members will collect your items, give you a number and you can collect your belongings after riding the rollercoaster – it is perfectly safe to leave your belongings with them and the rollercoaster it’s a “must do” so don’t skip it ;).

The park offers much more exciting things to keep you on your toes and continue the adrenaline rush – Like their Ferrari simulators where you can drive different Ferrari’s. There is a fee for this and I believe you get a card a certain value of money in it that will allow you to experience what the simulators are about. I did not get the chance to try this but they seemed fun and super realistic. It was one of those attractions where the older crowd seemed to gather the most since it involves driving and an excitement. Throughout the simulators you will see staff on duty that will walk you through things and make sure everything is running properly for you and as always, safety is their number one priority.

What was the next most exciting attraction aside from the rollercoaster? The Go Karts station was the second best thing I did during my time at Ferrari World. Though I had to wait an hour to experience it, I found it to be super fun. You will have to register into their system and receive a number shortly after, which is free to register. Once you have received your number it will indicate you a what time you have to report back to the go karts station, that time indicates the time that you will be able to race. Prior to racing, you are required to sit through a short informative video clip where they teach you the basics of the kart which is important to keep in mind. The speed of the Karts was pretty fast and it can be controlled by staff on duty incase they think you are going “too fast”. The surface of the go kart track is simply incredible and slippery which makes it even more challenging. You will do about 3 laps and a final lap to determine your placing and usual, try to get the best time per lap to determine your place, I will admit – I got 3rd place on my race. This is one of the attractions that I see myself doing over and over because it never gets old.

What should you do after some adrenaline rush racing on the Go Karts? Attending the Ferrari museum where you will be to see some old school to new Ferrari’s being displayed. The museum was simple yet informative as they explain to you the history of Ferrari and showcasing some beautiful vehicles – from back in the day to our current time. I strolled the museum for a little while to relax and unwind and learn the history of Ferrari. The cars on display were simply one of a kind and the evolution Ferrari has been throughout the years has been outstanding along with the design of their cars. They will be staff on duty if you have any questions during your visit.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi Bottom line
My time spent at Ferrari World was pleasant and I enjoyed my visit. You get a little of everything, adrenaline rush, history, culture, information and relaxation. The park itself is humungous and I was able to walk all of it to see what they offered for the guest. This installment simply covered my favorite attractions within the park and really what caught my attention the most and what is highly recommended to do there. If you go there with your kids, I guarantee they will have an amazing time as they offer much more attractions for the kids than for us adults. It is worth noting that you shouldn’t’ miss visiting Ferrari World during your next visit to Abu Dhabi, it is a highly recognized theme park that has won several awards and being able to ride the fastest rollercoaster in the world is the icing on the cake. It is definitely not a place I will be returning since a one time visit is more than enough. I give it the thumbs up on visiting.
The park offers restaurants, souvenir shops and different Photo Booth stations in which every single one is different in what they offer. To be expected the prices are fairly high so choose wisely.
