As an avid frequent flyer to Asia seeing this promotion from American was a great surprise, though my trips to Asia for the year have come to an end until next year, I figured it was worth sharing for those flyers traveling to Asia in the near future. Throughout the year I have traveled to Asia quite a bit, starting with Bangkok on the long haul flight from Dallas to Hong Kong, followed by Seoul Incheon from Dallas Forth Worth. The promotion can be lucrative if you are booking a First or Business class seat or if you are booking the most expensive economy airfare. Keep in mind that if you book a discounted Economy fare, you won’t be eligible to qualify for this promotion, so book accordingly so you are able to maximize the value of this promotion.
I have flown the Dallas to Hong Kong flight and it is one of my favorite flights, specially while flying Premium Cabin. If you are an Executive Platinum it is worth using a System Wide Upgrade to bump up from Y to J, though keep in mind the upgrade system on this route is extremely difficult though in the past I have been lucky to have my upgrades clear well in advanced. For those willing to book a Business class ticket, you will be in for a treat as the amenities of American Airlines Boeing 777-300ER are incredible.
American Airlines 777-300ER
The Boeing 777-300ER is my home away from home. I have spent hundreds of hours total flying this aircraft to different destinations around the World. It is comfortable, quite and offers state of the art installations to make your ride comfortable and enjoyable. Down below, I share some of my favorite on board amenities, including the walk up bar located in between the Business Class cabin and what the Business Class cabin looks like. If you would like to read my detailed trip report from Dallas To Hong Kong, be sure to check the following link for more info. (Dallas To Hong Kong Trip Report).

American Airlines recently got delivery of their Dreamliner 787 which I have yet to fly and its being added to several of their frequencies. It is a matter of time I will get to fly the Dreamliner and looking forward to it. As stated, some routes to Asia are now flying the 787 and by the looks of it, a lot of the customers seem to be liking the plane. Keep in mind the aircraft only has Business and Economy class, no first class. The cabin itself looks incredible and comfortable.

American Airlines double miles promotion – Bottom line
American has been very generous this year with the great promotions that they have been running in order to gain more milage, to qualify for status and maximizing the value of air travel when flying AA. American has always been my primary airline of choice for my domestic and international flights being that I am an Executive Platinum and the experience with them has been pleasant. If you are in need of miles, wanting to gain double of what you normally gain this is a great opportunity to do so. Keep in mind the double miles don’t count towards status but can be used to redeem them – the miles that will count are the “butt in seat miles”. I would frankly, go for the longest Asia route there is which is Dallas to Hong Kong as that will net you 8,111 Advantage miles per flight and a total of 16.222 miles round trip thats without counting the bonus miles. Don’t hesitate and start booking. 😉
