From Abu Dhabi, to Dubai, to Doha – My Middle East adventure continues with another top destination within the UAE which is Doha, Qatar. It was my first time in Doha and I didn’t know what to expect. Many of the people I talked to about me going to Doha weren’t thrilled on it, as always though I like to experience the destination and come up with my own personal thoughts and opinion. The beauty about travel is that you get a mix of travelers sharing their own travel experiences and they have their own way of traveling the World so it’s always cool to get feedback from a different point of view regarding their style of travel. As per usual, with every trip I don’t go with expectations specially if its a new destination I haven’t visited before, however; I do have a list of things I would like to visit that look fun and informative that is worth sharing with others with the mission that it will be beneficial on their own trip as well.
The St.Regis Doha is one of the finest hotels in Doha and their installations speak for itself and I was excited to visit this property. As Platinum Preferred Guest I was upgraded to the John Jacobs Astor Suite and I was one of the VIP Guest at the hotel as a Press/Media. Upon arrival to the property I felt like I was in a completely different world. The installations are beautiful, the vibe of the hotel was relaxing and everything was just state of the art, screaming luxury left and right.
WELCOME TO THE ST REGIS DOHA
Within the lobby area of the hotel which was currently under construction at the time you will be able to find the concierge service, the tea area and down the hall of the ground floor it will lead you to the outdoor patio of the property that overlooks the pool and breathtaking sea. It is worth nothing that prior to entering the property you are required to go through a metal detector sort of like TSA security at the airport. It is a no brainer that security is highly enforced here knowing the amount of high executives that come to the property, so I felt safe and comfortable during my stay at the St.Regis Doha. The check-in process was smooth and fast, the agent was friendly and as per usual I select the starpoints as my Welcome Amenity.
As I previously mentioned, the lobby and check-in counter was under construction but by the time you are reading this everything should be back to normal now.
Several sitting available can be found within the lobby incase you need to wait for your room or simply, to soak in the vibe of the hotel while having some tea, coffee or juice.
I felt like a kid in a playground or at the happiest place on earth, the hotel was blowing my mind and everything was just simply outstanding. I was escorted to my room by a friendly St.Regis employee where my suite was located, keep in mind the hotel has two towers. Upon arrival to the floor of my room, the butler and assistant of the butler was waiting for me with several refreshments such as: glass of orange juice, water or lemonade, I gladly accepted a glass of orange juice, during the walk to my room I had the whole St.Regis staff walking behind me towards my room. One of my butlers who helped me upon arrival to the property was Elmer from the Philippines and he walked me through my hotel room so I could get familiar with the amenities and installations. The size of the room was 1184 sq ft.
ST.REGIS DOHA FLOOR PLAN
I was assigned the highest floor of the property and my room was located at the end of the hall where two of the suites were located. The hall was beautiful, well decorated and the view was even better. By exciting the elevator you will take a sharp left and walk all the way down towards the room.
The hallway towards my room
The view from the hallway, overlooking the beautiful sea and skyline of Doha.
Now it’s time to share with you all the beautiful Suite I stayed in, down below I will share the information from the room on how the St.Regis Doha describes as and shortly after I will share with you all my thoughts and overall impression.
John Jacob Astor Suite
This is probably one of the most beautiful rooms I’ve stayed at and the installations were flawless. A solo traveler with this type of room? I mean, I wish I could have family and friends here to share this magnificent room with but I was certainly in another world upon entering to my room. The view of the sea was incredible from the living room and master bedroom and the amenities offered with it were on a whole other level. The working desk came in handy to get my daily work done bright and early before enjoying the property and exploring the city of Doha.
- Spacious working desk
- 42-inch flat screen TV and additional TV in the bathroom
- Multiple-line cordless phones with voicemail
The marble entrance of the 110-square-meter one-bedroom suite leads to a generous living room with spectacular views over The Pearl or Doha’s West bay. The bedroom with opulent fabrics and bespoke furniture with Arabic design details features the signature St. Regis bed. The separate living room is discreetly extravagant in design and offers spectacular vistas over The Pearl and Arabian Gulf. The Arabian dark wood arched double doorway frames a beautifully detailed bookcase in the private study area.
Key Services & Amenities
- Signature St. Regis Butler Service offering complimentary tea & coffee, two piece garment pressing, packing & unpacking
The St.Regis butler service is an incredible concept and it was my first experiencing the butler service. At the end of the stay, they become your friend and I don’t consider them just a “butler” they are truly there to make your stay special and facilitate anything that you may need help on. From turn down service, getting your cup of coffee delivered to your room whenever you prefer, packing and unpacking things you need and just being there for your service. Besides Elmer, I also had an incredible butler by the name of Antony, who also went far and beyond to accommodate my needs and wants, his service was outstanding and simply spotless in every way.
- Down duvets & pillow menu
- Hair dryer, vanity mirror, thick terry bathrobes
- Evening turndown service
- Complimentary water & daily newspaper
- Remède spa toiletries
- Full access to all resort leisure facilities
The pool of the property is the biggest in Doha and it’s olympic side. Daily refreshments are passed by the staff working by the pool and you can collect your towels poolside. Incase you are in need of tanning lotion or sunblock, you will be able to ask one of the employees and they will bring it to you, free of charge ;). Chilled music is blasting through the speakers making the vibe even more relaxing. Different sittings are available for the guest, some with shade and some at the open air for those wanting to catch a glow. Something I noticed from Doha it’s the constant wind it gets, something I barely got to experience in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The breeze made the hot temperature bearable and a bit more “cool”.
JOHN JACOBS ASTOR SUITE MASTER BEDROOM
Via: St.Regis Doha: The vanity area with wardrobes leads to the generous in-size marbled bathroom with mosaic detailing. With a large deep-soaking bathtub, vanity area with double basin and separate rain shower, the bathroom becomes a sensory retreat.
Did I mention that I got the best Welcome Amenity gift ever? One of the best I’ve gotten aside from the several great ones I got from Le Meridien Abu Dhabi.
ST.REGIS DOHA BOTTOM LINE
Needless to say, staying at the St.Regis doha was an incredible experience and the installations were out of this world. I’ve had the pleasure to stay at a variety of luxury hotels but there is something about the St.Regis Doha that just gives you a completely feeling. It is one of those moments in which you have to be there to experience. The most impressive part of all was the customer service and the attention to detail from the staff. It goes without saying that they are there to maximize the guest experience and make it memorable.
The hotel offers a variety of fun events for the guest to experience such as Jazz night, reggae nights and also for the foodies, great restaurants to dine in. The amenities of the property are incredible such as the spa and fitness center, in which I will be reviewing in the near future for you all to see what is it like.
The butlers, every butler who came to meet me and helped me during my stay were outstanding from different destinations around the world. One of my favorite things about traveling is connecting with the locals and this was a great opportunity for me to meet those and get to know more of Doha and it’s future plans and they were able to help me get the best of Doha with some vital tips along with the great help of the concierge service.
Last but not least, the recognition of SPG Status is fantastic and they truly take care of their elites. This is a property I will definitely be returning to in the near future and I hope all of you have the pleasure to visit it as well. If any questions, please drop them down below and I will answer them.
