The travel industry throughout the past few months have been exciting, innovating and drastic in some ways. As a frequent flyer, it is hard to grasp the recent changes happening within the industry but it’s also exciting to see the latest projects and innovations come into play and taking shape for the new year. One carrier in particular is taking the industry by a storm with its latest routes announcements, aircrafts and soon to be on new onboard product. Can you guess who? If you can’t, that carrier is American Airlines.

Well, American is back with yet another exciting announcement for us Los Angeles based flyers. In the past, if we wanted to fly to Jamaica, we would have to fly Los Angeles (LAX) to Miami (MIA) to Montego Bay (MBJ). Now we can conclude that chapter and take the non-stop direct flight from LAX to MBJ.
Beginning this Friday, December 18, American Airlines debuts new non-stop service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, Jamaica. As the world’s largest airline, American is the only carrier to offer nonstop service from the West Coast to the island country of Jamaica. Presently, it operates 150 daily flights to more than 30 Caribbean destinations from hubs in Miami, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Charlotte, Philadelphia and more, making American the premier airline for travelers visiting the Caribbean. With the addition of LAX, American now offers 58 weekly flights (combined) to Montego Bay and Kingston from the airline’s combined travel hubs.
The new service between LAX and MBJ (travel time is just under 6 hours) will be aboard a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, configured with 16 seats in First Class and 144 seats in Main Cabin.
The route schedule is as follows (all local times):
|Departure City||Arrival City||Departure Time||Arrival Time||Aircraft Type||Frequency||Flight Number|
|LAX||MBJ||11:00 p.m.||7:47 a.m.||B737||Fridays and Saturdays||2599|
|MBJ||LAX||9:00 a.m.||12:34 p.m.||B737||Saturdays and Sundays||2598|
American Airlines Executive and Tourism of Jamaica share their excitement with the latest route integration within American Airlines network and here is what they have to say:
“We have proudly served Jamaica for close to 40 years and are pleased to increase our service to the country,” said Yvonne Pearson, American’s country manager in Jamaica.
“We are thrilled to welcome new service from Los Angeles,” said Paul Pennicook, director of Tourism, Jamaica Tourist Board. “With this addition, visitors will have increased access and be able to experience the many wonders of Jamaica.”
The new flight demonstrates the airline’s continued dedication to expand its reach by offering new routes and services based on what customers want. This year, American has shown continued growth in Latin America and the Caribbean, with new routes to Mexico City, Mazatlan, Belize City, and now Montego Bay. This week, the airline will debut its daily non-stop service to Sydney on Thursday, December 17.

ACCOMODATIONS IN JAMAICA
Accommodations in Jamaica are stellar and as expected they are Resorts & Spa’s which means they are all inclusive properties which makes things even better for you the traveler. They are several great properties out there from hotel chains like Hyatt and Hilton. As a Hyatt Diamond and Hilton Diamond member I will certainly have some great perks included when visiting, keep in mind at the moment there is no SPG properties in Montego Bay. For those wanting to stay at non chain hotels, you will find quite a list of properties. You will also find hotels for adults only and for all ages.

Jamaica has been a destination on my bucket list for quite some time now and while I am in Los Angeles, I will definitely be considering taking the direct flight. As I previously stated, American Airlines operation is growing remarkably specially with the new exciting flights introduced.
In 2016, American will launch daily service from Los Angeles to Tokyo-Haneda, beginning February 2016, and to Auckland, New Zealand in June 2016, further strengthening its position as American’s trans-Pacific gateway hub.
Congratulations to AA for yet another exciting flight addition to your network. So who will be getting on board for this new direct flight from Los Angeles to Montego Bay?
