Throughout the month of January I visited Abu Dhabi for the third time and without a doubt, it is one of my favorite destinations. While Abu Dhabi it’s still developing, its one of those destinations that keeps you coming back. From the tourism stand point and the incredible hotels that are constantly opening. On my second trip to Abu Dhabi I had the pleasure to work with Le Meridien Abu Dhabi where I was showcasing their latest projects and innovations within the property. I have also reviewed Le Meridien Dubai by airport road and it became one of my favorite properties. On this trip, I wanted to stay within the heart of the City where I would be able to walk anywhere I wanted. Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi was perfectly located, to the point that I didn’t a taxi once throughout my entire stay and to say the least, it was a lengthy stay of 15 days. I could walk to the beach, to the malls, to the souk, restaurants and to anywhere locally that offered my needs and wants.
Prior to the trip I booked an incredible rate of $75 per night and as SPG Platinum Member I am granted club lounge access, room upgrade upon check-in if available and free breakfast. Does it get any better than that? I don’t think so. I can only hope the benefits of being a Platinum member don’t fade away once the merger with Marriott concludes. Upon arriving to the property I was upgraded to their Deluxe Corner suite which is a pretty massive room for a solo traveler, but I was excited to check it out and enjoy that luxury for the next 15 days of my stay.
DELUXE CORNER SUITE ROOM VIEW
The views from the room were fantastic and the room featured a completely panorama view of the sea and city view.
DELUXE CORNER SUITE – LIVING ROOM
The living room of the suite was great and it featured multiple seating along with a dining room area. As pictured below, you could see that the room had a hall where the closet was located and towards the right of the hall you will find the restroom of the room. The couch was rather uncomfortable as it felt a bit too stiff so the chair was getting the most use when watching tv. The view from the living room was my absolute favorite, specially during sunset.
Some of the perks of being upgraded to this room are the following:
- Coffee& tea making facilities
- High Speed Internet facility
- Interactive Television
- IDD Telephones
- Voice Mail
- 24 hour Room service
- 24 Hour Laundry service
- Digital Safety Deposit Box
- Mini bar
- Iron + Ironing board
- In-room Refreshment center
The room has been freshly renovated and nothing better than staying at a room that has all the amenities you need at your finger tips. From surround sound system in the room, to panorama views, to an spacious living room and to the master bedroom offering state of the art luxury for a comfortable night of sleep. I was truly pleased with this room and you can’t go wrong with a suite. The layout and design of the room was perfectly fine and nothing seemed to be “over the top” or out of place.
DELUXE CORNER SUITE – MASTER BEDROOM
The room featured two side tables with complimentary waters as an Spg elite. Something to keep in mind when being the Middle East, your room is fully stoked up with waters due to the heat so staying hydrated is the key while visiting Abu Dhabi as the temps tend to rise fairly quickly. In one of the night stand tables you will also find a complimentary coupon for free coffee if you would like to take advantage of that. Though as an SPG Platinum member, I see no value on that as I can visit the club lounge and have endless of cappuccinos free of charge. 😉
Within the room you will also find a TV which I barely turned on throughout my visit, since I was mainly using the TV in the living room. Though keep in mind the TV channels in the Middle East aren’t the greatest as they aren’t many options in English and a whole lot of options in Arabic. I am not much of a TV watcher so its not a big deal to me.
Within the room you will also find a working desk where I spent some of my time getting some work done. Within the desk you will find your charging ports to connect your devices. However; I decided to work the majority of the time at the club lounge of the hotel since there was complimentary drinks and snacks all throughout the day.
Last but not least, not picture – the bathroom. The bathroom of the suite was spacious and featured two water sinks, a bath tub and a walk in shower. The shower in the room was having issues during my stay so it wasn’t the most convenient shower. The first issue I encountered was that I couldn’t control the water temperature and stayed super hot, making it nearly impossible to shower. The second issue was that it flooded my bathroom and nearly my room as the water wasn’t draining properly. Though after a quick call to maintenance, the came right away to fix the issue and everything was back to normal. This is becoming a dilemma during my visits to the Middle East hotels as I experienced the same issue during my stay at The Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi. However; massive kudos to the staff at the hotel for doing a great job on fixing the issue and being responsive to my call, their efforts don’t go unnoticed.
LE ROYAL MERIDIEN CLUB LOUNGE
Open between 7am and 11pm, Le Royal Club Lounge is ideal for work, reading or meeting colleagues or friends, with its upholstered arm chairs huddled cosily around low wooden coffee tables.
Located on the first floor overlooking Le Méridien Hub, Le Royal Club Lounge offers an assortment of complementary services, including high speed internet access and exclusive Club Lounge Concierge services. Exclusively available for Royal Club Room and Suite guests, the Lounge also includes a private bar serving an assortment of refreshments from 11am to 3pm —including fresh brewed illy coffee, tea, and soft drinks. Enjoy Happy Hours on Cocktails from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm every day.
Children are allowed in Le Royal Club Lounge from 7am to 6.00 pm, but are not allowed during the Cocktail hours starting from 6.00 pm.
Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi surely exceeded my expectations and I was happy to have booked this hotel. The service from the staff was spot on and they are truly there to maximize the guest experience. The hotel offers a variety of in-house restaurants with different types of food. The club lounge of the property was always open for those who have access where you could enjoy coffee, refreshments and bites to eat. From 6-9pm, happy hour and dinner was served at the lounge and throughout that time frame its the only time where you can have alcoholic beverages at free of charge. Remember you’re in the Middle East so alcohol consumption is regulated at hotels. The hotel offers two pools, one indoor and one outdoors along with the fitness center which deserves a renovation since the equipment seemed to be fairly old and outdated.
Would I stay at this hotel again when visiting Abu Dhabi? Most definitely, though they are other hotels within Abu Dhabi I’ve got my eye on such as The St.Regis Sadiyaat Island and The St.Regis by Corniche Beach. Though if you’re looking for something that its convenient, comfortable and offers great amenities, don’t hesitate to book this hotel as you won’t be disappointed and the rates tend to be very well priced.
For those who have visited this property, how was your experience?
