Booking a hotel can be a true mission from time to time, because so many aspects play a roll when booking a hotel. Some of those aspects we keep in mind are the following: location, safety, amenities and of course, the room and what it offers. I tend to book different hotels for my destinations according to what I will be doing, wether its a lay over hotel or a hotel where I will be spending more than a week and each hotel serves a different purpose. During my third trip to Abu Dhabi I booked two hotels, one of them was Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi and the Aloft Abu Dhabi. Being an SPG Platinum member has its perks and its definitely a chain that I have supported throughout the years and qualifying for Platinum status has always been one of my priorities every year. I am holding my breath at the moment as the Marriott and Starwood merger is currently under development so I truly have no idea what the changes are going to be like once the merger is complete. Lets hope they are not so drastic and our SPG Platinum benefits aren’t completely removed. On Today’s installment I will be reviewing the Aloft Abu Dhabi Savvy Plus Room, where I was instantly upgraded upon check in thanks to my elite status, due keep in mind that upgrades are subject to availability.

ALOFT ABU DHABI SAVVY PLUS ROOM
The Savvy Plus room was everything I needed for my 24 hour stay at the Aloft Abu Dhabi. My first impression is that it was spacious, well designed and comfortable. Truth be told during my stay all I did was sleep as I was under the weather and had a very long flight to Australia the next day. The room featured a relaxing area to unwind where it had a couch and table.
Furthermore within the room you will find the typical complimentary waters, coffee machine and drawers where you could put some of your belongings.

As pictured below, there was only on TV in the room which is right in front of the TV. The tv had some great features as well, where you could see a lot of things such as weather, attractions to do in Abu Dhabi, weather conditions in Abu Dhabi and overall hotel installations and more. While the selection of english channels was non-existent, the SPG channel always does the trick whenever I turn on the TV, as it usually ends up being the only thing I am watching.
The room also has a working desk where you will be able to find the room service menu along with a booklet with hotel information. Within the desk you will be able to charge up your devices and get some work done, as it is a spacious and comfortable working zone.

SAVVY PLUS BATHROOM
The bathroom of the room was spacious and well laid out. Within the bathroom area you will find the closet of the room along with the safe box. Within the room you will find the toilet area along with the shower separated by different sections. While the bathroom wasn’t nothing glamorous or over the top, it got the job done and everything was in great working condition. Tissue box, toiletries and a vanity mirror are located along with your different size towels. The water pressure of the shower was fantastic and the toiletries such as (shampoo, conditioner and soap) were standard.

SAVVY PLUS BATHROOM TOILETRIES
One of my favorite toiletries out there are Bliss which can also be found at W Hotels. The body lotion and the soap are two of my favorite toiletries and the foaming face wash gets the job done every time I use it. The quantity you get in toiletries isn’t very much so incase you need more, ring up housekeeping and they will be able to bring you more.

SAVVY PLUS ROOM VIEW
While the view of the room wasn’t too glamorous, the biggest highlight of all was seeing the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque which is my absolute favorite mosque. I could see it from my room and its just 5 minutes away from the hotel by taxi. I highly recommend and encourage you all to visit this Mosque during your trip to Abu Dhabi. Best time to visit is during sunset but I have also gone during the day and its truly one of a kind. You can read my review of the mosque over here to get an idea of what it looks like and what to expect from it.

BOTTOM LINE
Aloft Abu Dhabi was a great hotel to spend the night and prepare for my trip the next day. It is convenient for the business travelers or those on a short lay over in Abu Dhabi. Keep in mind the hotel isn’t remotely close to the City and main highlights to see and it can be quite a drive to all the major attractions and malls in Abu Dhabi. However; the taxi fee isn’t very expensive, so make sure your driver knows where you would like to. The rate per night at the hotel are extremely reasonable and cheap, so for $74 dollars or a 4,000 starpoints redemption can be a good deal, though I would rather pay the $74 than use my starpoints for this hotel. Keep in mind the pricing of the room rate is subject to change at any given time, though the best rates tend to be great when booking far in advanced and off season.
The hotel also offers a variety of 6 great restaurants and my favorite was the roof top bar known as Relax@12 which serves one of my favorite foods, sushi. The view is beautiful and the prices are reasonable so I highly recommend you all to visit Relax@12.
